Clearly Life Gets No Better Than This

Our kitchen/family room has laminate flooring. It is mostly easy to keep clean which is after all essential with the boys traipsing who knows what, who knows where all the live long day. So I have to admit laminate flooring has made my life slightly simpler.

What I am not so keen on though is the sweeping (though I vastly prefer sweeping to vacuuming). Every time the kids eat anything I have to sweepy sweep sweep because my kids are unable to eat anything without turning half of it into big old crumbs.

So on Saturday I was sweeping the floor for the bazillionth time. Rob had just got back from football training and the boys were running all over in celebration of their favourite parent returning. (Charming, right?)

Me:(Exasperated) "Thomas be careful don't run in my pile of dirt!"

Thomas: "Oh sorry mummy."

Me: "That's OK you just need to be more careful."

Thomas: "What you doing with that dirt mummy?"

Me: "Well I'm gonna sweep it up and put it in the bin."

Thomas: "Oh, that's so nice for you mummy!"

Me: (Thinking silently to myself) 'At least one of us thinks so, son!'

Now, why is mommy sweeping? Can't one of those cute little boys do it for you? Although, a broom can be a weapon, can't it?

Too Funny!!! Don't you wish you could get more credit for the things that you do?!
Kids do say the funniest things right?
At least he did not step right in the pile of crumbs...there has to be something positive out of it all.

Haha! It's always nice to be appreciated :)
I myself hate sweeping, but I'm a mean vacuumer (is that a word?).
Anyway, have a happy day!

Ah yes, The underappreciated mom of boys. I am with you sister.

I have a sign that reads "there is a clean bathroom in heaven for the mother of boys." I can only hope it is true, and that I am not the one cleaning it.

Oh, maybe you should get those pint size brooms and let them help you sweep up.

Sweeping is *such* a thankless job. We have wood floors and sometimes I wish we had laminate with no cracks...so I have to sweep *and* vacuum!
You can come have homemade pizza with us any day! Just hop the ocean and come right on over!

Ah, I don't like sweeping, either. Vacuuming? Love it. Sweeping? Hate it!
Have you tried a Swiffer? I'm not sure what type of floors it works best on, but I've always loved Swiffers :)

When we first moved into our home, it was carpet under the dining room table. I'm thinking, they must have been crazy.

lol aww cute story! I am sure one day your boys will look back on this & other stories & laugh. Reading all these "mommy blogs" lately makes me wish I appreciated my mom more growing up, but it's never too late, right?!
Thanks for stopping by & commenting my blog! I was pleasantly surprised, and I must admit I have been blog-stalking you for awhile.. I think I will add you to my blog list so it's not considered stalking anymore! haha

Seriously a girl after my own heart. I am quite the freak about my floors being clean!

And your title was again too perfect for the post!

Glad to hear that they are going to at least try and stay clear of the pile of dirt! :)

Oh, Carol. Don't you just love how they come up with the little things they say? I swear, you need to get some video to post of them sometime, I would LOVE to see it.
And, at least he said it like he did, and not "MOMMY! Get that mess cleaned up right NOW!"

I love everything about this story! Only a boy would appreciate the collection of dirt in a bin. So sweet!
