It's My Blog and I Can Write What I Want to...

I think we all know that I love to blog. I make no secret of it.

I love that I can write about whatever I want, completely uncensored and best of all I like that nobody can interrupt me while I do so.

Brilliant, right?

I don't mind at all that endless strangers the world over (yes, I am kidding myself a tiny bit) can come by and read about whatever I am considerate enough to share that day.

I have been known to whine (just the once and that was practically forever ago) that the majority of readers fail to comment. Anyone that blogs themselves will know that comments are the icing on the blog cake so to speak, and we all know how much I like cake. (Unless it's ginger cake of course, ginger cake I can live without.) But I have made my peace with that. If you comment that is super dooper great, if you don't that's fine too, but just know I won't like you so much.

From my very first blogging day I have had comment moderation enabled. That way I get to see who has commented and what delightful things they had to say and I then get the option to either publish or reject. I always publish my comments except for a couple of mishaps along the way where I rejected completely and honestly by accident. One of these mishaps involved 2 comments from Rob and he has never commented since. Can anyone say hold a grudge? (Come on Rob take the higher road and forgive me.)

From day 1 I also disabled search engines from finding my blog. Well, until the curiosity got to me and I started to wonder what people would actually have to Google to turn up right here (that is a whole other blog post in itself believe me) and I freely admit I have had my share of unwanted attention.

So this post goes out to the other people who arrived here by way of Google and commented on my blog and I chose to reject what they had to say to me.

Why did I choose to delete it?

Because I can.

I have the power.

So to half the population of Wales (who clearly have nothing better to do than search the Internet for critical things people may have said about their language) who responded to my post about our recent stay in Wales and gave me several lengthy and insightful lectures on the origins of the Welsh language and how it is purer in form than English. Those Welsh folk are fiercely patriotic (and evidently not big fans of the English) I have found. I thank you all but I reject you.

To the person who googled snakes in bed (seriously?) and then left me a comment telling me what I had just shared was an urban legend and they hoped very much that I was simply attempting to be entertaining because apparently an Anaconda couldn't eat an adult human due to the shoulders being wider than it's jaws could physically stretch and was kind enough to attach a link or two so I could re-educate myself more thoroughly on a snakes actual dining etiquette. I remind you that I never once said the snake actually ate her or even attempted to. I am not personally acquainted with this snake but I am willing to concede it may have been a snake with a low IQ that was shamelessly unaware of it's inability to swallow adult human shoulders. I thank you also but I reject you.

And finally to who can only be described as Matthew McFadyen biggest fan who was ever so offended that I dared have the audacity to suggest Colin Firth was a far superior Mr Darcy (which he is) than Mr McFadyen would ever be. I thank you for your opinion (as utterly incorrect as it is) but I reject you.

I beg of you no more silly interruptions.

Because after all it's my blog and I can write what I want to.

lmao just wanted to say I loved reading this post - it was absolutely hilarious - and of course you can blog what you want to - I know I do :)

Amen, Sister! It is your blog, and you SHOULD write what you want to!

I had someone leave a comment on my post "The Case of the Missing Breastpads", saying that they wondered if it was appropraite material for my family blog, and that maybe I should change my name.... Did it seem inappropriate? I didn't think so, but, whatever. I did publish their comment though, since I'd made a fuss about not getting very many comments, but now that I think about it, they kind of ticked me off, so I may go and delete it. (Can you delete a comment after deciding to publish it?)

Some people think that they know everything and that they need to be the boss of everyone.

You keep doing what you're doing, cause you know that we love it! :D

Way to take control.
I leave my comments unmoderated but I feel free to delete them if I notice them being rude. :)

lol I've seen so many people posting about what search terms got people to their blogs, how do you know ?! I want to know! I want to join in the fun! lol I never understood moderating comments, but you've explained it to me so thanks! I'm still gonna leave it off for my blog, but you know whatever floats your boat, right ?!
Btw, I left you something on my blog, so check it out!

I, for one, LOVE your blog--you should always blog about what YOU want to :)

I love you Carol. Not in a creepy way, just in the I wish we didn't live an ocean and half a continent away from each other so that we could actually hang out kind of way.
You make me laugh.

I'll have you know that I was singing the tune to, "It's my party and I'll cry if I want to..." for the title of this post. Now it's stuck in my head. Geez. Great post. I've only had to delete one comment. It was some weirdo who said, "I was here." Sorry, I'm not a bathroom stall and I will not be tagged in that way.

Now I'm paranoid. Considering my recent obsession with a certain Gold Medal Winner and maybe his name being googled a whole lot...

It's blasphemy to even suggest that ANYONE is a better Mr. Darcy than Colin Firth!

Seriously though, I have been debating turning comment moderation back on since my "THAT Mom" post simply because of a troll that came across my blog and decided to tell me to get over the death of my son. I think it might have been the same person who trolled Redneck Mommy but am not certain.

I did eventually delete the comments because they were polluting the air on that post.

*sigh*

I don't know what I'm going to do.

Can I just tell you how much I love this post?
Really.
It needed to be said.
And you did girl!
Please oh please don't reject me!!!

I so love this. You must be way popular to get comments from people who just randomly find you.

Hey! Why didn't you pause your blog whilst I was traveling?

It's like we're oceans apart or something. Geez.

hahahahahaha! You tell 'em! That's awesome. Educating you on an Anaconda's possible/impossible diet? Please... this person has way too much time on their hands.

Carol, Thanks for the 50 years younger comment as it made my day. Supprisingly I feel younger but my body keeps telling me that I have more miles on it than years I feel. For a brief moment while I was looking at my geneology on the new (yet to be released church program) I found a Sisam and thought of Siswick, thinking that here we were related. Oh well I think any one who could put up with Sister Gardner (Alisha) has to be closely related ;~)
She really is a great daughter. I love reading your Blog as well as all the comments. I even agree with you on your choice of Mr Darcy's as I think the others were much too "Dark" and changed the feelings of the story.
I loved the story of the artist using his own devices to decorate your walls. Seems to occur at least once a generation.
Keep smiling your life is just begining. When you get to take care of grandkids and remember why you let your kids live is so you can enjoy your grandkids and spoil them terribly so you can get back at your kids. Terry G.

what a great post! i feel the same way.
i love...love... getting comments! but sometimes I get a bit disappointed when I go to POW and enjoy reading and commenting on other blogs and then I do not get a comment back.
But we do have the bloggy power to reject after all...

haha I agree and toast with you to your freedom to excommunicate those not in line with the Siswick Zone.

I also thrive off comments so come on back and chat a while lol.

I've never looked that far into it! But, of course you have the power! Go with it! Tell the others to kiss it!

And, I heart comments, too! And, when I get a new commenter, I try to comment back, or reply to email! It's so much more fun that way!

Right on my bloggy sista! These blog things should be a release and a catharsis, not something that stresses you out or makes you feel guilty for carving out a space where you can speak your piece. Good for you for taking the Power!

Sometimes I wish my family didn't know about my blog... I have to self-censor sometimes, so my Dad doesn't call me up and accuse me of "shaming the family". Cuz I lead SUCH an excitng life...

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment on my "Blog Parenting" post. Apparently, I am not alone in this new found skill ;)

I just stumbled upon your blog. This is hilarious! You have quite the talent for making one laugh. I love checking the Google searches for our blog. I once wrote about nail polish and someone Googled 'polish babes' before clicking on our site. I am certain they were disappointed when they clicked on my blog. Hmph.

I so agree on the excitement of getting a comment - as I just started my blog. :) I am also just beginning to comment on other blogs now that I am more comfortable with the "blog" process!! I enjoy reading your blog **smiles**.

Ha Ha! There are some real weirdos out there! Colin Firth *is* hands down the best Mr Darcy! Yes, Matthew does the seems-snobby-but-really-just-quiet thing very well.....but Colin just *is* Mr Darcy! *sigh* I need to watch that again for the umpteenth time. Let me congratulate you on your excellent taste Carol!

Thank you for your comment on my blog. It means a lot to me! I hope you get the chance to read Twilight; they are such great books! Let me know what you think of the series.
