The Moment When I Wondered if I bought the Right Baby Home from the Hospital

Remember Christmas Morning when you were a kid?

Tearing wrapping paper off with wild abandon and getting thoroughly stuck in (Ok so that is still what I do now but thats not the point people)?

Joyous, right?

Fast forward to Christmas 2008.

Where my firstborn child carefully unwraps each individual present before taking care to add it in a very orderly fashion to his tower of presents before moving on to the next.
I only caught a photo half way through but he repeated such shameless tidy shenanigans the very next day at my mum's house.

Heaven knows he didn't get the tidy or self restraint genes from me.

I hope it's not contagious.

My older son was the same way--you could have reused his wrapping paper :)

Merry Christmas!

That is so funny, because I was always the same way. It is because I wanted the feeling of Christmas morning to last as long as possible...or at least that is what I told my mom.

That is funny and definitely not my kids. Connor got so excited he started opening any present he could find, including our presents. Looks like Thomas got a lot of good loot though. Hope you had a great Christmas lovely.

Hilarious.
Last night was the last night of Hanukkah and we had 8 gifts left for Maddie (yes, I do realize there are 8 nights of Hanukkah and yes, she did receive more than one gift on several nights - that is another issue entirely).
So we gave her the pile last night and let her have a go at it.
I think she was so much more impressed by the sheer amount of gifts in front of her to be unwrapped, that she didn't even realize what she was opening!
She would open one very carefully, toss it gently behind her, then move on to the next.
The whole thing was quite comical, as at one points I asked her "Do you know what you just opened? And she answered NO."
She spent most of today soaking it all in!

Back to you little guy - tidyness is no habit to be worrying about!

Hello. I've just stumbled upon your blog and I love it! I have 3 boys and your stories sound very familiar. I live in America and enjoy reading about others in different countries and their way of life. I hope to return and enjoy your stories.

Haha too cute! My parents have a video of me doing the same thing with wrapping paper on my 6th birthday -- opening it carefully so as not to tear or wrinkle it. I'm not that patient anymore. No sir-ee!!
